About the Google Maps Embed Generator

The Google Maps Embed Generator writes the HTML code that puts a map on your website — for an address, a business name or coordinates, with zoom, map or satellite view, rounded corners and a responsive aspect ratio. No API key needed; if you have one, the official Maps Embed API is used instead.

For visitors from the EU there is a two-click version: instead of the map, the page first shows a short notice and a “Load map” button — Google receives nothing until the visitor clicks. The snippet is self-contained (a little HTML, CSS and JavaScript), works in WordPress, Wix or plain HTML and can remember the choice. Plus: ready-made links for your “Directions” button. Need the exact listing? Find it with the Place ID Finder.

No. The classic embed code — the same kind Google Maps offers under “Share → Embed a map” — works without a key. The official Maps Embed API needs a free key from the Google Cloud console and offers a little more control; if you have one, enter it under “API key”.

Not without precautions: as soon as the map loads, the visitor's browser connects to Google and transmits data such as the IP address. Many data protection authorities and lawyers in Germany therefore recommend loading the map only after consent. The two-click version loads nothing from Google until the visitor clicks — and Google Maps belongs in your privacy policy either way. This is not legal advice.

Yes. If your consent tool (Borlabs, Real Cookie Banner, Usercentrics …) manages Google Maps, use the normal embed code and let the tool block it. The two-click version is meant for sites without a consent tool or as a lean alternative.

The keyless embed searches for the text you enter. Use the full address or the business name with the city — or paste the embed code from Google Maps (“Share → Embed a map”), which points to the exact listing.

Choose 16:9 or 4:3: the code wraps the map in a container with a fixed aspect ratio, so it shrinks with the screen. “Fixed height” keeps the height and only adapts the width.
